Trisana Chandler

Tris is a young mage in Tamora Pierce's 'The Circle of Magic' and 'The Circle Opens' series of books. Having been disowned by her family because of the odd things that happen around her, Tris is brought to Winding Circle Temple in Emelan by her teacher Niklaren Goldeye. Along with her friends, Daja, Sandry and Briar, she begins a new life learning to control her magic. Tris is plump, cranky and bookish (nothing like me, not at all! :P ) but her tough exterior can't hide her fierce loyalty to her friends and her soft-heartedness towards the helpless. She learns great discipline to control her magic and by the time we see her again in Shatterglass she has an apprentice of her own, Keth, as well as caring for Little Bear, Chime and Glaki.
